If Jesus Conquered Death, Where Is He Now?

Christians often tell me that Jesus conquered death. They tell me that this is what makes him the real deal. But if this is the definitive “proof” that Jesus is the real deal, then where is he? If he really conquered death in the manner that Christians claim, then he should be walking around the world. Where is he?

You can’t just claim that some person who lived 2000 years ago is still alive and not be able to show him off. Anyone can make claim, but being able to back up that claim is the trick. I can say that Aristotle conquered death and then make up some excuse for why you can’t meet him. Maybe if built a spaceship is left the planet or something, but he came back from the dead and is still alive… I swear. Some how I doubt that would satisfy my Christian friends.

So when I ask Christians about where Jesus is, they tell me that he is sitting at the right hand of God. Well, isn’t that convenient. This is when Christians drag out the Bible as evidence to this fact. To me that is no different that my assertion that Qui-Gon Jinn has conquered death too. My evidence for this is the Star Wars Saga of course.

The fact is that the claim that someone conquered death is not new nor is it convincing without actual evidence. Personally, I don’t even think it is desirable. Who really wants to live forever, anyway?

Whether you want to or not, Steve, we all are going to exist forever. The only difference is that those who know Christ as their Lord and Savior through faith in Him will live forever with Him in bliss, will those who do not will be punished under the damnation of God for their sins.

    Where will you spend eternity?

Well, Xians also say that he not only descend to the dead/hell, but he rose again on the third day, then went to heaven to sit on the right side of God. So that’s their excuse as to why their Jesus doesn’t walk the earth. (check the Nicene Creed for this)

Gregory, all of these things are human concepts and sadly there is no such thing as eternity. This is the only life we get. It’s a nice little fantasy, but it was all created by humans.

Christians seem to unknowingly make light of claims like living for eternity in bliss or in damnation whenever they talk about it.

Gregory, we only truly live if we can suffer as well as feel happiness because it is only through suffering that we can appreciate happiness. Feeling just bliss for the rest of eternity takes the meaning away from it. Heaven would be as much torture as hell, living a pointless eternal existence.

Living forever would make life meaningless too. Life is only valuable because there is death at the end of it. Truly beautiful things don’t last forever. Part of that beauty is because we know there’s an end to it.

What’s ironic about all of this is that Christians often say atheists think life is meaningless when in actuality many atheists create their own purpose and live their lives to the fullest while Christians devalue their own lives by devoting it towards an afterlife that they have no proof exists.

Theists really have no ethics. The have no problem telling obvious lies, demanding “respect” for their delusions and ignoring the law, common sense, and even human decency.

“Spread the word, make converts” is their only motivation. How it is done, brainwashing children, demanding free rides on everything from taxes to illegal activities, those are trivial matters.

If theists had ethics, they would not need a system of rewards and punishments to behave themselves. If they had a genuine case to present, they wouldn’t need to threaten others with hell to make converts.

Most of the problems of the world are, and always have been, caused by religion. For example, Northern Ireland, the Middle East, 9/11, and family planning clinic bombing in the USA. Then there were the crusades, the inquisition, witch burnings, and the dark ages. Get the idea?

Humanity will never truly be free until the black yoke of religion is lifted by the clear light of truth and rational thinking.
