In my conversations with Christians, many times they will tell me about how I must obey their deity of choice. When I ask why I must obey, they often tell me that God created me. For the sake of argument, let us say that were true even though there is no valid evidence suggesting that it is anything more than ancient fiction. How does my being a creation of this particular god obligate me to obedience?<\/p>\n
\u201cWell\u2026\u201d they tell me, \u201che created you.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOkay, so what? Why should I obey this deity?\u201d I again ask. It seems that most of the Christians I talk to don\u2019t seem to understand what I am asking. They seem to think that creation some how demands obedience and quite frankly I don\u2019t see that. If Hitler created a robot, would the robot be somehow obligated to obey Hitler even after it had developed a conscience? This is of course an impossible scenario, but it is just an example of how creation does not necessitate obedience.<\/p>\n
While it is usually good for children to obey their parents, it is not always a good thing. And it is only a good thing to a point. It is only a good thing in so much as the parent is a good parent. Children aren\u2019t slaves to their creators (i.e. parents) nor should humans be slaves to a god. While this is really a moot point since God is a character in a book and not real, the point is that even if God were real, creation alone does not necessitate obedience.<\/p>\n
