Yesterday, I heard an excerpt from the new Piers Morgan<\/a> show on CNN in which Christian motivational speaker Joel Osteen<\/a> commented that he isn\u2019t judging gay people, but God says it\u2019s a sin. He claims that is in the \u201cscriptures.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joel Osteen doesn\u2019t hate gays, God does. Joel is a really nice guy. He loves everyone, but that God character, he\u2019s an asshole. At least that is what it sounds like the way Joel Osteen tells it.<\/p>\n

Sure, the Bible says a lot of really crappy things and everyone ignores most of it. People are selective with what they choose to \u201cfind\u201d in the \u201cscriptures.\u201d No one is picketing Red Lobster or stoning people who work on Saturdays. But that is not the point today. Today, I want to talk about the use of the Bible to hide hate.<\/p>\n

Joel Osteen hates gay people. But, he wants to seem like a nice guy so instead he tells us that he doesn\u2019t have a problem with gay people, but God hates gay people and he is just pointing that out. Don\u2019t get me wrong, I don\u2019t really have a problem with Joel Osteen, but the Flying Spaghetti Monster hates his guts.
